T. 27. 1. 9 – II. 3.\u00a0 Jesus: \u00a0\u201cForgiveness\u00a0changes not the body into\u00a0something it is not.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0It only takes away from it all the signs of accusation and of blamefulness the ego used it for.\u00a0 Pictured now without a\u00a0purpose, it is seen as neither sick nor well; not bad nor good. \u00a0No grounds are offered that it may be judged in any\u00a0way at all!<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
Of itself, the body has no life, but neither is it dead.\u00a0 It stands apart from all experience of love or fear.\u00a0 For now it\u00a0witnesses to nothing\u00a0yet<\/u>, its purpose being open, and the mind made free again to choose what it is for.\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
Now is the body\u00a0not condemned, but waiting for a purpose to be given it, that it may fulfill the function that it will receive.<\/em>\u00a0 Into this empty space within the mind, from which the goal of sin has been removed, is Heaven free to be remembered.\u00a0 Here its peace can come, and perfect healing take the place of death. \u00a0The body can become a sign of life, a\u00a0promise of redemption, and a breath of immortality to those grown sick of breathing in the fetid scent of death.<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Let\u00a0the body now have healing\u00a0as its purpose!\u00a0 Then will it send forth the message it received, and by its health and loveliness\u00a0proclaim the truth and value that it represents.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0Let it receive the power to represent an endless life, forever\u00a0un-attacked.\u00a0 And to your brother let its message be, ‘Behold me, brother, at your hand I live, and live eternally!\u2019<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The simple way to let this be achieved is merely this: \u00a0Let no body have a purpose from the past.\u00a0 For the past insists your crippled picture of yourself be a lasting sign of\u00a0what the body was to represent.\u00a0 That would leave no latitude\u00a0in which a different view, and another purpose, can be given it. \u00a0Accept simply that\u00a0you<\/u>\u00a0do\u00a0not\u00a0know its purpose! \u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
You but gave illusions of a purpose to a thing you made to hide your function from yourself.\u00a0 This thing without a purpose cannot hide the function that the Holy Spirit gives to you to give to it.\u00a0 Let, then, its purpose and your\u00a0function both be reconciled at last and seen as one!<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Is healing frightening?\u00a0 To many, yes!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0For sickness’ accusation of guilt is a bar to love, and damaged bodies are\u00a0relentless\u00a0accusers.\u00a0 They stand firmly in the way of trust and peace, proclaiming that the frail can have no trust, and that the\u00a0damaged have no grounds for peace.<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Who has been injured by his brother, and could love and trust him still?<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0To the ego, he\u00a0has attacked and will attack again. \u00a0\u2018Forgive him not,\u2019 the ego says, because your damaged body shows that\u00a0you are vulnerable and\u00a0must be\u00a0protected from him.\u00a0 To forgive may be an act of charity, but it is surely not his due.\u00a0 He may be pitied for the guilt he suffers, but not\u00a0exonerated!\u00a0 And if you forgive him his transgressions, you but add to all the guilt that he has really earned.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Thus the unhealed cannot wholly pardon.\u00a0 For they use their bodies as the witnesses that pardon is unfair.\u00a0 They fear\u00a0they<\/u><\/em>\u00a0would retain the\u00a0consequences of the guilt they overlook in others.\u00a0 No one can forgive a sin that he believes is real.\u00a0 And what has\u00a0consequences must be real, because what it has done is plainly there to see.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Forgiveness is not pity, which but seeks to\u00a0pardon what it thinks to be the truth.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0Good cannot\u00a0be\u00a0returned for what is seen as evil, and true forgiveness does not first establish sin\u00a0as real\u00a0and then forgive it.\u00a0 Who can say and mean, ‘My brother, you have injured me, and yet, because I am the better of\u00a0the two, I pardon you my hurt.\u2019<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
His pardon and your hurt cannot exist together.\u00a0 One denies the other and must\u00a0make it false.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0To witness \u2018sin’ and yet forgive it is a paradox that reason cannot see.\u00a0 For sin maintains that what was\u00a0done to you deserves no pardon.\u00a0 And so by giving it, you would grant your brother mercy but ‘retain the proof\u2019 that he is not really\u00a0innocent. \u00a0So the suffering remain accusers.\u00a0 They cannot forgive their brothers and themselves as one!<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
No one in\u00a0whom true forgiveness rests can suffer!\u00a0 He holds not the proof of sin before his brother’s eyes.\u00a0 And thus he must\u00a0have looked beyond it and removed it from his own.\u00a0 Forgiveness cannot be for one without the other!<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Whose forgiveness is whole\u00a0is healed!\u00a0 And in his healing lies the proof that he\u00a0has<\/u>\u00a0truly pardoned, and retains no trace of condemnation that\u00a0he still would hold against himself or any living thing.<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Forgiveness is not real unless it brings a healing to your brother\u00a0and<\/u>\u00a0yourself.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0You must attest his sins\u00a0have no effect on you to demonstrate they are not real.\u00a0 How else could he be guiltless?\u00a0 And how could his\u00a0innocence be justified unless his sins have no effect to warrant guilt?<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Sins, if real, would be beyond forgiveness just because\u00a0they would entail effects that cannot be undone and overlooked entirely.\u00a0 In their undoing with forgiveness lies the proof that they are\u00a0merely errors.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
Let yourself be\u00a0healed<\/u>\u00a0in the Holy Spirit, that you may be truly forgiving, offering salvation to your brother and yourself as one!”<\/em><\/div>\n
