Baby sea turtles face colossal obstacles from the time they emerge from their nests and dash towards the sea. Only\u00a0one in 1,000 survive to adulthood<\/em>. From nesting beach habitat degradation to human interference and light pollution on land, and predators, plastic pollution and impacts from climate change on the open ocean, sea turtles are swimming against all odds to survive.<\/p>\n

With the support of our members like you, Turtle Island Restoration Network\u00a0has worked with community volunteers and partner organizations for 30 years to protect nesting females, eggs and baby sea turtles, from creating a National Wildlife Refuge in Nicaragua to protect the most important olive ridley sea turtle nesting beach, to establishing six community-based beach nesting projects in Costa Rica. Right now, we are working with partners to create one of the world\u2019s first marine protected areas connecting two national parks, between Costa Rica\u2019s Cocos Island and the Ecuadorian Gal\u00e1pagos Islands \u2014 to protect highly migratory and critically endangered species like the Pacific leatherback sea turtle.\u00a0But our work is not yet done, and you can help<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Say Happy Valentine\u2019s Day by helping us save endangered sea turtles<\/strong><\/a>, mothers and their young, and protect nesting beaches in the Gulf of Mexico, Costa Rica, and beyond.<\/p>\n
