There\u2019s mounting scientific, forensic, and circumstantial evidence the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic is not a natural occurrence<\/strong>\u00a0in which a relatively harmless bat virus (with limited transmissibility) mutated, became aerosolized, and began infecting humans on a mass scale.<\/p>\n

What millions of people now understand is that SARS-CoV-2 is a\u00a0genetically engineered Frankenvirus<\/a>, the product of a disastrous, but unfortunately predictable lab accident that occurred in Wuhan, China in late 2019.<\/p>\n

This weaponized virus is the genetically engineered offspring of a decades-long biological arms race, disguised as \u201cgain-of-function\u201d biomedical, or biosafety research.<\/p>\n

Scientists all over the world\u2014funded by Big Pharma, tax dollars and the military-industrial complex\u2014are collecting viruses, bacteria, and microorganisms and taking them into poorly regulated, accident-prone labs where they are engineered to be more virulent and infective.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This dangerous research is all being done under the guise of \u201cbiosafety\u201d and vaccine research. Even as you read this, US scientists are working on making the SARS-CoV-2 virus even more deadly, utilizing\u00a0lab engineering and animal passaging<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s time to put an end to this madness.<\/p>\n

Bogus Carbon Credits and Cap and Trade Versus Real Carbon Offsets for Regenerative Organic Practices<\/h1>\n

For more than a decade, large polluting corporations (including the fossil fuel, agribusiness, and transportation industries) and financial brokers have\u00a0tried to convince us that corporate and government-controlled \u201ccarbon credits\u201d or \u201ccap and trade<\/a>\u201d schemes can be a major solution to the climate crisis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Many of the big players in the global financial elite\u00a0claim that \u201ccarbon credits\u201d or cap and trade practices can \u201ccancel out\u201d enormous quantities of greenhouse gases (GHG)<\/strong>\u00a0emissions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, by buying carbon credits that go toward financing climate-friendly energy conservation, reforestation, and other carbon-sequestering projects across the world,\u00a0the world\u2019s top corporate emitters of greenhouse gases are actually enabled to continue with their polluting, business-as-usual practices.<\/strong>\u00a0Did you know that the world\u2019s 100 largest corporations are responsible for 71% of current global GHG pollution?<\/p>\n

Fossil fuel, airline, or pesticide and fertilizer companies\u00a0apparently plan to keep on polluting as long as necessary to maintain their rate of profit.<\/strong>\u00a0Therefore, they want us to believe that carbon credits are a type of voluntary or semi-voluntary \u201ccarbon tax\u201d that will actually force them to clean up their operations and stimulate climate-friendly practices, especially in the Global South.<\/p>\n

Although OCA has always opposed bogus carbon credit schemes,\u00a0there is a new type of genuine \u201ccarbon offset\u201d that is emerging<\/strong>, exemplified by the Hudson Carbon project in Hudson, NY, which is set up to\u00a0pay regenerative organic farmers a substantial sum for scientifically verifiable carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration practices.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monsanto, Big Food, and Big Ag Are Trying to Co-Opt the Organic and Regeneration Movement<\/h1>\n

All of a sudden, a slew of\u00a0Big Food and Big Ag corporations\u00a0<\/strong>such as Bayer\/Monsanto, Cargill, Walmart, General Mills, Danone, Unilever, and others in the factory farm, genetic engineering, and synthetic biology industries are\u00a0declaring that they are going regenerative<\/strong>\u00a0in light of our growing public health, environmental, and climate crises.<\/p>\n

If you think that sounds suspicious, you\u2019re correct.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Gandhi once reportedly said, our enemies\u2014in our case agribusiness, factory farms, the GMO industry, and large food corporations\u2014first ignore us, then ridicule us, then fight us, and finally, if they can\u2019t defeat us,\u00a0try to co-opt us and take over our movements<\/strong>, alternative practices, and economies.<\/p>\n

As proof of our growing success,\u00a0Big Ag, Big Food, and the gene engineers have stepped up their efforts to degrade organic standards<\/strong>\u00a0(hydroponic no-soil production and factory farming) and claim that tiny reforms in chemical and energy\u2013intensive agriculture practices,\u00a0so-called climate smart agriculture<\/strong>, or bogus hi-tech solutions such as \u201cgene-editing\u201d can solve all of our problems, while of course\u00a0maintaining their basic business practices and profits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At last week\u2019s virtual conference called \u201cGrowing Stronger: Collaborative Conference on Organic and Sustainable Farming,\u201d OCA Political Director Alexis Baden-Mayer interviewed\u00a0renowned author and food activist Dr. Vandana Shiva.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Shiva is founder and director of the\u00a0Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Natural Resource Policy as well as\u00a0Navdanya<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in India. Vandana is also a co-founder and steering committee member, along with Ronnie Cummins, Andre Leu, and others, of the\u00a0global network\u00a0Regeneration International<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alexis Baden-Mayer is a Washington, DC-based lawyer and activist. She is the Political Director of the Organic Consumers Association and also works with Regeneration International.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post, which until recently had regularly dismissed the theory that the COVID-19 pandemic resulted from a lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,\u00a0finally published an\u00a0editorial board column<\/a>\u00a0embracing the lab leak hypothesis and calling for investigation into the research lab<\/strong>\u00a0that was funded in part with U.S. tax dollars from Dr. Anthony Fauci\u2019s National Institutes of Health.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Post\u2019s about-face comes as\u00a0mounting evidence<\/a>, including from the\u00a0U.S. State Department<\/a>, indicates that the pandemic most likely was caused by a leak or a release<\/strong>\u00a0from the badly-managed, accident-prone lab in Wuhan, China.<\/p>\n

At the time of the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2,\u00a0the lab was carrying out controversial \u201cgain-of-function\u201d experiments on coronaviruses to make them more infectious and virulent.<\/strong>\u00a0Dr. Fauci and the NIH, unfortunately, have played a major role in\u00a0funding the Wuhan lab experiments\u00a0<\/strong>and subsequently\u00a0attacking scientists, investigators, and government officials<\/strong>\u00a0who have pointed out that the most likely cause of the COVID-19 pandemic was a lab accident.<\/p>\n
