There’s mounting scientific, forensic, and circumstantial evidence the COVID-19 pandemic is not a natural occurrence in which a relatively harmless bat virus (with limited transmissibility) mutated, became aerosolized, and began infecting humans on a mass scale.

What millions of people now understand is that SARS-CoV-2 is a genetically engineered Frankenvirus, the product of a disastrous, but unfortunately predictable lab accident that occurred in Wuhan, China in late 2019.

This weaponized virus is the genetically engineered offspring of a decades-long biological arms race, disguised as “gain-of-function” biomedical, or biosafety research.

Scientists all over the world—funded by Big Pharma, tax dollars and the military-industrial complex—are collecting viruses, bacteria, and microorganisms and taking them into poorly regulated, accident-prone labs where they are engineered to be more virulent and infective.

This dangerous research is all being done under the guise of “biosafety” and vaccine research. Even as you read this, US scientists are working on making the SARS-CoV-2 virus even more deadly, utilizing lab engineering and animal passaging.

It’s time to put an end to this madness.

It’s time to bring the perpetrators of this pandemic to justice and put them on trial as part of an International Tribunal.

Bogus Carbon Credits and Cap and Trade Versus Real Carbon Offsets for Regenerative Organic Practices

For more than a decade, large polluting corporations (including the fossil fuel, agribusiness, and transportation industries) and financial brokers have tried to convince us that corporate and government-controlled “carbon credits” or “cap and trade” schemes can be a major solution to the climate crisis.

Many of the big players in the global financial elite claim that “carbon credits” or cap and trade practices can “cancel out” enormous quantities of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions.

However, by buying carbon credits that go toward financing climate-friendly energy conservation, reforestation, and other carbon-sequestering projects across the world, the world’s top corporate emitters of greenhouse gases are actually enabled to continue with their polluting, business-as-usual practices. Did you know that the world’s 100 largest corporations are responsible for 71% of current global GHG pollution?

Fossil fuel, airline, or pesticide and fertilizer companies apparently plan to keep on polluting as long as necessary to maintain their rate of profit. Therefore, they want us to believe that carbon credits are a type of voluntary or semi-voluntary “carbon tax” that will actually force them to clean up their operations and stimulate climate-friendly practices, especially in the Global South.

Although OCA has always opposed bogus carbon credit schemes, there is a new type of genuine “carbon offset” that is emerging, exemplified by the Hudson Carbon project in Hudson, NY, which is set up to pay regenerative organic farmers a substantial sum for scientifically verifiable carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration practices.

GREENWASHING

Monsanto, Big Food, and Big Ag Are Trying to Co-Opt the Organic and Regeneration Movement

All of a sudden, a slew of Big Food and Big Ag corporations such as Bayer/Monsanto, Cargill, Walmart, General Mills, Danone, Unilever, and others in the factory farm, genetic engineering, and synthetic biology industries are declaring that they are going regenerative in light of our growing public health, environmental, and climate crises.

If you think that sounds suspicious, you’re correct.

As Gandhi once reportedly said, our enemies—in our case agribusiness, factory farms, the GMO industry, and large food corporations—first ignore us, then ridicule us, then fight us, and finally, if they can’t defeat us, try to co-opt us and take over our movements, alternative practices, and economies.

As proof of our growing success, Big Ag, Big Food, and the gene engineers have stepped up their efforts to degrade organic standards (hydroponic no-soil production and factory farming) and claim that tiny reforms in chemical and energy–intensive agriculture practices, so-called climate smart agriculture, or bogus hi-tech solutions such as “gene-editing” can solve all of our problems, while of course maintaining their basic business practices and profits.

At last week’s virtual conference called “Growing Stronger: Collaborative Conference on Organic and Sustainable Farming,” OCA Political Director Alexis Baden-Mayer interviewed renowned author and food activist Dr. Vandana Shiva.

Dr. Shiva is founder and director of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Natural Resource Policy as well as Navdanya in India. Vandana is also a co-founder and steering committee member, along with Ronnie Cummins, Andre Leu, and others, of the global network Regeneration International.

Alexis Baden-Mayer is a Washington, DC-based lawyer and activist. She is the Political Director of the Organic Consumers Association and also works with Regeneration International.

In the interview, Vandana shares her thoughts on our current degenerate food system and illustrates how we can move to a global regenerative agriculture system.

28 Members of Congress Demand That the Department of Health and Human Services Come Clean on the Apparent Wuhan Lab Origins of COVID-19

The Washington Post, which until recently had regularly dismissed the theory that the COVID-19 pandemic resulted from a lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, finally published an editorial board column embracing the lab leak hypothesis and calling for investigation into the research lab that was funded in part with U.S. tax dollars from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Health.

The Post’s about-face comes as mounting evidence, including from the U.S. State Department, indicates that the pandemic most likely was caused by a leak or a release from the badly-managed, accident-prone lab in Wuhan, China.

At the time of the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, the lab was carrying out controversial “gain-of-function” experiments on coronaviruses to make them more infectious and virulent. Dr. Fauci and the NIH, unfortunately, have played a major role in funding the Wuhan lab experiments and subsequently attacking scientists, investigators, and government officials who have pointed out that the most likely cause of the COVID-19 pandemic was a lab accident.

TAKE ACTION: Ask your Member of Congress to cosponsor the PREPARE Act (H.R. 834) to establish a bipartisan National Commission on the COVID–19 Pandemic.
